I realized early on that the future of spaceflight isn't just about rockets; it's about the humans inside them. While engineers build the hardware, it is healthcare professionals who ensure mission success by keeping the crew alive and thriving.
I am bridging that gap. As a researcher with the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences (IIAS), I specialize in Bioastronautics, focusing on Life Support Systems and Remote Medicine.
My work explores the critical intersection between space health and austere environments on Earth—applying advanced space protocols to improve care in rural communities. I founded The Space Nurse to ensure that as humanity pushes further, nursing expertise is part of the mission.
I recently appeared on the Melanin Initiative Podcast to discuss the vital role of aerospace nurses in the space medicine landscape and why it is crucial for us to organize in the field of space health. We explored the importance of space medicine training and how space nursing can enhance our contributions to advancing health in space.
